Vegan Burger Macaron Love: Part 2
“Burger Love”
In the bustling corner of a McDonald’s, their eyes collided over fries and laughter. He, with a ketchup-stained napkin, and he, nervously adjusting his tie. Their first date—a symphony of burgers and shared dreams.
Well that’s how we imagined Leighton and Andrew meeting for the first time and we take some creative liberty in playing the story out in our own minds 😍.
Welcome to Part 2 of the vegan burger macaron blog. In part 1 we shared the story of how Leighton and Andrew met, how they came across the Butterwicks Vegan Burger Macaron idea and how the deal was sealed.
We are super excited to share with you how we went about creating the ultimate Vegan Burger Macaron.
Developing the idea
Who says burgers can't be sweet? We prepared to embark on a culinary adventure combining the best of both worlds – the iconic flavours of a burger with the elegance of French macarons. Get ready to be wowed with this creative dessert that was as fun to make as it was to eat.
The Burger Patty: Chocolate Ganache First things first – let's talk about the heart of our Vegan Burger Macarons: the famous Butterwicks decadent chocolate ganache ‘patty.’ Rich, smooth, and utterly naughty, our ganache patty was the perfect substitute for its meaty counterpart. Made with high-quality Belgian vegan chocolate, it's guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth while delivering that crave-worthy burger experience.
The Cheese: Mango Gel Slice What's a burger without cheese? In our Vegan Burger Macarons, we swapped traditional cheese for a slice of gelled mango pulp. This vibrant and tangy replica added a refreshing burst of the tropical that perfectly complemented the richness of the chocolate ganache patty.
The Raspberry Ketchup: We said adios to tomato ketchup – our Vegan Burger Macarons feature a decadent raspberry cream that offset the sweet with a perfect hint of tartness. It was the ideal ‘condiment compliment’ to tie all the flavors together and elevate the macaron to new heights.
The Pickles: Set Kiwi Pulp emulated the gherkin pickle and the Set Cherry Pulp was the beetroot pretender. What they weren’t were flavour pretenders. The combinations of sweet, sour, tart and fruitiness just added dimension after dimension of pleasure for the palette.
The Lettuce: Green Fondant Icing No burger is complete without crisp, fresh lettuce, and our Vegan Burger Macarons were no exception. We used set green fondant icing to mimic the appearance of lettuce, adding a pop of colour and a new texture to each bite.
The Burger Buns: Macaron Shells with Sesame Seeds Last but certainly not least, the pièce de résistance – the burger buns. Our Vegan Burger Macarons feature perfectly baked eggless macaron shells, complete with sesame seeds for that authentic burger bun look. Light, airy, and slightly sweet, these shells provide the perfect vessel for holding all the delicious fillings together.
